Real Estate & Appraisal Course Descriptions

 
       
    Real Estate Principles and Practices
Principles and Practices is the real estate salesperson pre-licensing course required by the State of Connecticut. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the real estate business for those interested in learning more about this exciting industry. You will be introduced to brokerage, listing agreements, buyer/seller representation, ownership of real estate, legal descriptions, taxes, contracts, liens, transfer of title and more. Those students intending to sit for the State of Connecticut Real Estate Exam must attend and pass this course with a grade of 70 or better. Course material is extensive and those intending to take the State of Connecticut Real Estate Exam are expected to complete considerable reading assignments.
 
       
   

Real Estate Appraisal I
Take the first step. Learn how to evaluate residential property and estimate market value based on the three approaches to value:

  • Cost approach
  • Income approach
  • Sales comparison approach

Analyze real estate market trends, develop your own appraisal report, and research necessary data at municipal offices. Understand how technology has reshaped the appraisal industry. Includes an introduction to the Uniform Standards of Professional Practice and the content of the USPAP standards 1, 2 and 3 covering real property appraisal.

 
       
    Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice
15-hour National USPAP Course
Required for Appraisal Pre-licensing

Required for Appraisers, this course covers the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, and how federal standards merge with Connecticut licensing laws and regulations. Case Studies demonstrate the importance of formal professional practices. Appraisal Foundation final exam standards are set each year. Students must meet the final exam standard in order to successfully pass this course. Attendance requirement is 15 hours
 
       
    Real Estate Economics
A direct and practical economics course designed with the real estate and appraisal professional in mind. Examine why real estate values change due to economic factors. This course is ideal for students with no formal math or economics background. Applications to the real estate market are non-quantitative. This course has been filed for approval by the Real Estate Commission. Those students intending to sit for the State of Connecticut Real Estate Exam must attend and pass this course with a grade of 70 or better.
 
       
   

Guide to Passing the PSI Real Estate Exam Plus State-Specific Exam Prep
