COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Multimedia Web Authoring will utilize the latest software
technologies and methodologies to develop and deliver complete interactive
multimedia software systems for Web-based applications. Topics include:
advanced algorithm analysis, complex problems in Human-Computer Interaction,
and advanced JavaScript and Action Script programming.
INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY
The course will balance lectures with hands-on demonstrations, learner-centered application assignments, and a comprehensive final project.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The main goals of this course
are to provide the learner with the abilities to:
1. utilize the latest
Web development technologies
2. create interactive software functions
3. construct "JavaScript” code based on common algorithm structures
4. solve problems related to hardware/software incompatibility
5. develop interactive software for the World Wide Web
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon successful completion of
all required assignments, the learner
will be able to:
- develop sophisticated Web sites
- design interactive Web-based software
- develop JavaScript programs to enhance
Web-site interaction
- use deductive logic and cognitive processes
to solve hardware/software issues
- design, plan, and develop interactive
Web-based applications
DIGITAL ARTS CONFERENCE: (TBA)
All students of the Digital Arts, Digital Design, and Multimedia Technology programs are required to attend this mandatory educational event. You are requested to reserve the above date and time.

At NVCC we expect the highest standards of academic honesty.
Academic dishonesty is prohibited in accordance with the Board of Trustee's
Prescribed Conduct Policy in section 5.2.1 of the BOT Policy Manual. This
policy prohibits cheating on examinations, unauthorized collaboration
on assignments, unauthorized access to examinations or course materials,
plagiarism, and other proscribed activities. Plagiarism is defined as
the use of another's ideas or phrase sand representing them as your own
either intentionally or unintentionally.
ATTENDANCE:
It is the responsibility of the learner to visit, utilize and consult
the course Web site throughout the semester and to complete and submit
all required work to the instructor on/before the due dates.
WITHDRAWAL:Consult
the College Catalog and the current credit class schedule for class withdrawal
dates.
CLASS CANCELATION:If
class is cancelled or delayed because of weather, local radio and television
stations will broadcast an announcement. If the instructor is unable to
attend class, the Arts & Humanities Division office will advise students
of alternate learning activities.

Late Assignment Policy:
Unless the instructor grants prior approval, assignments submitted after
the due date will be subjected to one (1) point reduction for each day late.
Note: Course content may change to satisfy the academic needs of the students.
DIGITAL ARTS
LAB POLICIES:
- On the average, students should expect
to work 3-4 hours per week on assignments for this course. The Digital
Arts/Multimedia Lab facilities are available during Lab Hours. Please
consult the Lab schedule.
- Absolutely no food or beverage are allowed
in the Multimedia Lab
- Students will not download and install
software (of any kind), and will not alter computer configurations in
any way, unless specifically given permission by the instructor.
- Students will not mishandle Lab equipment
and furniture.
- Wet or muddy shoes should be cleaned
before entering the Digital Arts/Multimedia Department.
- Cellular telephones and pagers must be
switched off before entering the lab.
- No equipment or materials are to be taken
from the Multimedia Lab without explicit permission from Professor Biello.
- Any person not in full compliance with
the policies stated above will lose the privilege of using the facilities
of the Digital Arts/Multimedia Lab.
