We offer you a state-of-the-art facility that houses an 800-seat Mainstage, a 100-seat Playbox, choral and practice rooms, a dance studio, three art studios, a scene shop, costume and prop rooms, and a multimedia center especially designed for computer graphics and animation, digital imaging and video, digital audio and sound editing and software authoring.
Naugatuck Valley Community College is pleased to offer the Associate Degree in Fine Arts. This innovative program features five options in Art, Dance, Multimedia, Music and Theatre. The Dance and Multimedia programs are unique in the state's community college system. The Department produces concerts, plays, art shows and media events on and off campus.
Art Option:Training in art history, 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional methodologies, and graphic design principles.
Dance Option: Training in dance history, traditional and modern dance techniques, and specialized areas of study.
Digital Design Option: The detailed study of digital audio, animation, graphics, imaging, video and mutlimedia application design and development.
Music Option: Instruction in music theory, history, performance, sound recording, and electronic music composition.
Theater Option: Instruction in acting techniques, theatre practicum, lighting, stagecraft, and directing.
