Begin to learn Office 2003 or take the skills you have already learned in another course, on the job or from another source and enhance your knowledge and skills.

Our class size is small, 10 to 14 students, allowing our instructors to give students the attention they need. Our friendly hands-on approach is a productive way to help students move on to the next level.

With each course we have listed any prerequisites that are needed. To get the most out of your learning experience, be sure to pay careful attention to these.

Microsoft Word 2003, Introduction
Are you a beginner who needs an in depth study of Word? Learn to:

  • Copy and paste text
  • Format text
  • Create and work with tables
  • Add graphics
  • Merge Word documents
Prerequisite: Computers Made Simple, Windows or Introduction to Mac OS X, Folders & Files, or equivalent experience

Microsoft Word 2003, Intermediate
Take Microsoft Word to the next level. This course is geared towards those who have basic Word skills and are ready to learn more. Cover topics include:

  • Formatting with styles
  • Creating and modifying charts
  • Creating and using forms
  • Sharing information with other programs
Prerequisite: Basic Computer Proficiency Certificate, Word Introduction or equivalent experience

Projects in Business: Advanced Word
In this workshop, you'll focus on using the functions and features of Word in specific business projects. A basic review of intermediate and advanced level Word functions is included; however, the focus is on self-discovery and function integration. Some knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and Access is useful, but not required.

  • Create a multi-page report with information drawn from various sources.
  • Create a complete marketing kit to launch a new product or service
  • Create a product catalog, using mail merge, queries, and importing data from other sources.
  • Create multiple documents using collaborative tools, document versions, and templates and simple macros.
  • Create a workbook from a PowerPoint presentation and use tables, graphics, and advanced paragraph formatting.
Prerequisite: Basic Computer Proficiency Certificate, Word Intermediate or equivalent experience

Build on what you learned in Access Introduction. More complex table structure design is covered, along with more complex query, form and report building.

Microsoft Publisher 2003, Introduction
Use Microsoft Publisher to learn desktop publishing. Create dynamic documents such as brochures and newsletters from scratch using MS Publisher templates. Learn how to use text frames, graphics, tables, WordArt and layout techniques to create a professional document that effectively communicates your message.

Preparing Content for Presentations
As a class we will look at role of business presentations for anyone who addresses customers, employees or students on a regular basis. Technology is changing the way we create and present information to groups, but the proper use of verbal and nonverbal communication strategies will prevail. We will discuss the advantages of written vs. oral presentations, and how to plan a presentation effectively using visual aids. We will also address the critical role of audience analysis in terms of demographics and level of knowledge of our particular topics.

Prerequisite: None
