What are Prerequisites?
Prerequisites are skills you have already learned in another course,
on the job, or from another source. If a course lists prerequisites,
you will need those skills in order to be able to keep up in class
and get the most from your learning experience.
We have carefully addressed the entry skill levels of all our
classes. By having achieved these skills before taking a class your
learning experience will be much more enjoyable and fulfilling.
Please read each course description carefully to be sure you have
completed all the required prerequisites. There are no placement
or entry tests given for credit-free courses. It is your responsibility
to be sure you have achieved the required level of experience before
you register for a class. It is the policy of Naugatuck Valley Community
College, Continuing Education that refunds are not granted after
the first class meeting of a course.
If you have any further questions about your level of experience
please contact the staff of the Computer Training Office:

What does equivalent mean?
When the prerequisites for a course state "or equivalent"
that means that you have learned the skills covered in the prerequisite
by a method other then taking the class, such as on the job or on
your own. If you are not sure that you have all the skills required,
please contact the Computer Training Office and we will help you
decide where you should begin. To ensure that you get the most out
of your learning experience, be sure that you have all the necessary
skills for the course you choose.

When do I register?
Registration for each semester begins approximately one month before
classes start. We advise you to register as early as possible to
insure that you get into the class or classes that you chose. All
registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis.
Sometimes courses are cancelled when too many people wait until that last minute to register. Because we need a satisfactory number of students enrolled before a class will run and enough lead time to notify those affected, please be sure to register early.

What is the policy for
inclement weather?
College closings due to weather are announced over local AM /
FM radio TV / stations and on the web site. If the college has a delayed opening, this means that all classes
scheduled to begin before the delayed opening time will not be held that day and will be rescheduled
at an agreed upon time. Please note that classes begin at 8:00am. Therefore a two hour delay means that all classes before 10:00am will be rescheduled. A 90 minute delay means that all classes before 9:30am will be rescheduled.
Continuing Education classes follow the
